The April 2 tournament, called the Fernando “Nanding” Morales Cup, was named in honor of a former pioneering SKY employee who became known as the “Father of Cable TV.”
In basketball, SKYBIZ zoomed all the way to the tournament championship finals where it met the tough contender ABS-CBN Technology Group.
The game between the two powerhouses was a nail-biter of a match, with SKYBIZ taking the championship after it prevailed over ABS-CBN, 7977, in a cardiac finish that was decided only in the closing seconds.
Meanwhile, in badminton, SKYBIZ fielded two teams each in the men’s doubles and the mixed doubles competitions, with two pairs clinching top awards. Emerging as the champions in the mixed doubles category were SKY’s Mean Selga and Isagani Espino, while taking second place in the same category were SKY’s Neo Ferrer and Mina San Gregorio.
Both contests were held at The Zone in Makati.
Finally, in bowling, SKYBIZ finished second place behind the Colorview CATV team after their bowling showdown at the SM MOA Bowling Center in Pasay.(Story/Photos by: Dimpy Jazmines)
