The National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) and Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) formally launched the Makabata Block on Knowledge Channel.
The Makabata Block which airs daily at 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. features shows that are educational and informative, valueladen and age-appropriate, aligned with the NCCT and KCFI’s goal to provide quality, child-friendly shows. The lineup includes the ongoing “DokyuBata TV,” documentaries by children from entries to NCCT’s DokyuBata video documentary contest, and “NCCT Originals” featuring “Mga Awit ni Pina,” “Mang Lalakbay,” “Wellness’kada” and “Meriam’s Online World”; and, beginning later this month, “Buhay na Buhay,” a celebration of Filipino culture and traditions hosted by Sen. Loren Legarda.
Rina Lopez, KCFI president and executive director, commended NCCT’s continuous efforts in serving the Filipino children and underscored why Knowledge Channel is the right platform for the project.
“NCCT has been a longtime partner in our shared vision of nurturing young minds through informative and engaging programming. Ang dedikasyon nila sa pagbibigay ng dekalidad na edukasyon sa telebisyon ay malaki ang naitulong sa buhay ng maraming kabataan.... The shows align perfectly with our advocacy,” said Lopez.
Luis Gatmaitan, NCCT chairperson, affirmed the agency’s efforts to support children’s programming.
“NCCT empowers homegrown production teams and content creators to venture in the world of child-friendly media content for the Filipino children. Sana ay maging adbokasiya nating lahat ang makabatang telebisyon. Magsisilbing inspirasyon sa ating lahat ang Makabata Block bilang isang safe space para sa mga batang Pilipino,” said Gatmaitan.
The Makabata Block aims to bring quality children’s television to the most accessible media platform in the country: television. Knowledge Channel is available on cable, satellite, digital free TV and online via iWantTFC.
