KCFI equips CDW/Ts with learning resources for the transformational learning experiences of childrenThe day starts with a burst of energy at a barangay child development center (CDC)—children laughing, playing and learning, each with their unique needs and potential. Whether it’s a child racing across the room, a little one needing a napor a curious mind eager to draw their first circle, these moments capture the magic of early childhood development (ECD). It’s not just about teaching the ABCs or numbers, it’s about nurturing the whole child. For the energetic runner, it’s about channeling that enthusiasm into discovery. For the sleepy one, it’s about understanding the importance of rest amidst a day full of learning. And for the budding artist, it’s about encouraging creativity and critical thinking.

Yet, the environment where this magic happens is often challenging. Many of the child development workers/teachers (CDW/Ts) in our barangay centers are volunteers—people who may not have formal training in early childhood education but who bring an incredible amount of dedication, love and creativity to their work. These are the individuals who shape our children’s first learning experiences, laying down the foundations that will impact their future success.

At the Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI), we deeply appreciate the invaluable work these CDW/Ts do every day. Through our K-CARE training program, we ensure that every barangay CDC, as mandated by law, is not just a place of care but a vibrant hub of learning and growth. We provide these dedicated volunteers with modern teaching strategies and rich video resources designed specifically for ECD, transforming their classrooms into joyful spaces where learning flourishes.

The impact of these initiatives is already evident. In communities like Lobo, Batangas; Burgos, Ilocos Norte; and Pateros, CDW/Ts who have attended our program have not only embraced these new principles but have also become champions of ECD, inspiring others in their barangays to follow suit.

This National Teachers’ Month, as we honor all teachers, let’s shine a special light on our CDW/Ts. These quiet heroes are ensuring that our children start their educational journey on the right foot. Let’s make sure they have everything they need to succeed.
