Inspired by his community in Mandaluyong City, Cobcobo has always been interested in connections people make, whether it be familial or in relations rooted in the common spaces they occupy. He says Tahanan is a collaborative work involving three residents in his neighborhood - their life and their story. The installation likewise led to three portraits.

Cobcobo received his Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts (major in Advertising), cum laude, from the Technological University of the Philippines. An active member of the Printmakers Association of the Philippines (PAP), he has shown in numerous art spaces and institutions here and abroad such as New York, South Korea, Singapore, Australia, Vietnam and Japan. He was one of the Cultural Center of the Philippines 13 artists awardees in 2012. He was also the Juror’s Choice of Excellency in the Philippine Art Awards, with a series of citations for his exhibitions as a shortlisted artist for the Ateneo Art Awards.

Joey CobcoboJoey CobcoboArtist Talk complements the ongoing exhibition "Propaganda" which will run until May 31, 2015. The exhibit fleshes out the idea of myth-making and its capacity to inspire change or derail genuine national progress. It features key works from its collection and works by contemporary artists Alvarado, Don M. Salubayba, Santiago Bose, Alvin Yapan and Cobcobo.

Registration fee for the lecture is Php 135 (students/members at Php 115) and includes admission and a guided tour of the exhibitions. Gourmet Farms Inc. will also serve freshly brewed coffee during the lecture. The Lopez Memorial Museum is at the ground floor, Benpres Building Exchange Road corner Meralco Avenue, Pasig City. Museum days and hours are Mondays-Saturdays, 8am-5pm, except holidays. For information and registration, call Tina or Kinna at 631-2417.
