CN-TowerOn a clear day, go up the iconic CN Tower in TorontoAlways on the list of the world's most livable cities, Toronto offers a slice of modern Canada. It is the business and financial hub of Canada and has a diverse cultural mix, with Filipinos making up about 4% of the population.

There are two Chinatowns, a Little Italy, Greektown, Koreatown, Little India, Little Portugal and Little Jamaica, so there is plenty to do, see and taste!

The CN Tower is a city icon, and the tallest freestanding structure in the world. Riding the glass elevators up to the observation deck is a must, but be sure to pick a clear day to get the best views, and be prepared for a long queue. Other tourist sites in Toronto are the Royal Ontario Museum, the Hockey Hall of Fame and the Toronto Zoo.

Cabbagetown east of downtown and near the University of Toronto is where you will find preserved Victorian- and Queen Anne-style housing. In the 19th century, Irish immigrants settled here and used to plant cabbages in their front yards, thus the name. If you happen to visit in early September, then you will be just in time for the Cabbagetown Festival.

The Distillery District is another historical site that has been restored into a pedestrian-only center for arts, culture and entertainment. The 47 Victorian industrial buildings in this district retain their old-world look, enhanced with modern-day green technology and materials, resulting in a perfect fusion of old and new. You can easily spend a day here and stay well into the night—shopping, dining and catching live performances.

If your travel schedule allows, take a weekend trip to Niagara Falls or Niagara-on-the-Lake, about a two-hour drive from Toronto. Niagara-onthe- Lake is Ontario’s wine country where you can go through a scenic drive or engage in the cooking classes available in the area. Niagara Falls is a family travel destination centered on the magnificent falls. The area has been developed to accommodate the 14 million visitors that annually go there, and there are many kid-friendly places to take the little ones. Toronto: A slice of modern
