Volunteers work together to clean and beautify KHS for the new school year Volunteers work together to clean and beautify KHS for the new school year More than 100 volunteers representing the Lopez Group went all out once again to focus on the improvement of the surroundings of Kapitolyo High School (KHS) in Pasig in the Lopez Brigada Eskwela activity.

Lopez Group Foundation Inc. (LGFI) Operations head Angela Lopez-Guingona delivered the welcome remarks, while KHS principal Cecil Ragala conveyed her gratitude to the organizers for their efforts.

KHS was also the group’s beneficiary school last year.

The birthday celebrants for the month of June were acknowledged, after which selected KHS students led the stretching and exercise segment.

Knowledge Channel and the Lopez Lifelong Wellness team donated a television and a first aid cabinet, respectively, to KHS.

Before the activity proper began, a safety briefing was given by Algie Obedencio of Energy Development Corporation’s Emergency Preparedness & Disaster Response Unit (EPDRU). LGFI’s Caloy Campos also provided further instructions regarding the activity.

A disaster risk reduction management seminar was conducted by Gerard Natividad of EPDRU for the heads, teachers and students of KHS simultaneous with the cleanup and beautification activities.

Around 10 classrooms were spruced up by the volunteers, with each member contributing in cleaning and painting the rooms and doing electrical works. (Story/Photos by: Gerbs de Castro)
