Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI), founded on June 14, 1999, recently celebrated the 23rd broadcast anniversary of its flagship program, Knowledge Channel.
On Nov. 6, 1999, Knowledge Channel aired with the first-ever satellite TV broadcast of its curriculum-based shows. As the first and only on- air, online and offline media tandem in the country focusing on the basic education curriculum, KCFI strives to remain responsible stewards and cocreators of transformative learning experiences through media and technology in the service of the Filipino children.
Twenty-three years later, Knowledge Channel has come a long way from satellite broadcast, and is now strategically on multiple platforms and focus. Its upcoming new shows lined up for broadcast include “#ILY1000,” “Ready, Set, Read!,” “AgriKids,” “Wikaharian 2,” “MathDali” Grade 1, “Puno ng Buhay,” “Wow” and “Heroes of Zero.”
Knowledge Channel’s 17-hour curriculum-aligned programming is available on cable, direct-tohome satellite and DTT, and online through iWantTFC. Video lessons are available on-demand through KCFI’s official Facebook and YouTube pages. It is also on Kapamilya Channel every Sunday at 7 a.m. and on A2Z from Monday to Friday at 7 a.m.
In celebrating their broadcast anniversary, KCFI conducted a countdown series of “Knowledge on the Go” Knowledge Channel edition, an online quiz game featuring trivia and fun facts about the organization. Knowledge Channel then premiered a special anniversary video featuring their partner teachers and celebrating their dedication to young Filipino learners’ education.
Another highlight on the day of its anniversary is bagging a special citation in the Best Children and Youth Program category of the 44th Catholic Mass Media Awards for “Ready, Set, Read!,” a video lesson series of Knowledge Channel and Security Bank Foundation Inc. aimed at improving learners’ foundation skills in reading in English available at https://bit.ly/KCH-ReadySetRead.
