Team Unity and Integrity composed of players from ABS-CBN and SKY bagged the team overall crown anew in the 2019 Lopez Group badminton tournament held at Centro Atletico in Cubao on May 25.
Finishing second was the Nationalism contingent represented by employees from Energy Development Corporation, while Team Social Justice from Rockwell Land won third place.
The individual champions and runners-up in each category were as follows: Vancliff Bacuyag and Chot Borja (men’s doubles A champion), Jeffrey Rosarito and Carlo Tansuk (runner-up); Nona Seva and Tin Jamiana (women’s doubles A champion), Gina Jaculo and Mhean Garcia (runner-up); Bryan Chan and Toni Pizarro (mixed doubles A champion), Mark Gerard Joseph Mallari and Aiyanna Jaxine Fong (runner-up); Charlemagne Tan Jr. and Rainier Gemuel Tom (men’s doubles B champion), Jun Alesna and Joeny Bermejo (runner-up); Jessica Cruz and Che-che Samulde (women’s doubles B champion), Erika Espejo and Jacq Duclayan (runner-up); Danica Rueda and Jay Canto (mixed doubles B champion), Koy Acquiatan and Angel Bermundo (runner-up); Mike Trinidad and Sammy Evangelista (men’s doubles C champion), Renante Catahan and Gilbert King (runner-up); Mean Selga and Regina Naval (women’s doubles C champion), Jenny Santos and Marian Paligat (runner-up); and Gian Pantanilla and Kate Dolino (mixed doubles C champion), Pete Valenzuela and Jane Pagkalinawan (runner-up).
Making the tournament even more fun and exciting were the side contests. Rockwell’s Kaydee de Guzman of the Social Justice team won as Best Muse. The blue-clad Nationalism team tabbed the Best Uniform award and, for tirelessly cheering for their teammates from start to finish, the Social Justice team was named the Most Energetic Team.
