Almost two years into the pandemic, it didn’t seem like we would be able to go out for anything but important errands and urgent medical concerns. That is why Asian Eye Tele has been a tool for individuals and families to get the eye care they need from the safety of their homes.
Launched in 2020, Asian Eye Tele is an easy way for patients to consult with their eye doctor about their eye concerns without having to leave their home or office. It has been particularly useful for patients who live far from their doctor, or for those with comorbidities. Patients can set an appointment if they have changes in vision, eye injuries, or eye pain or redness.
Asian Eye Tele offers the following advantages:
You can get initial advice or it can serve as a way to help monitor your condition. TeleConsultation is a way of screening whether patients can stay home or if they need to go to the clinic for a more comprehensive checkup and tests.
If you’re not sure whether you need to go to the clinic for a checkup or not, then Asian Eye Tele is for you. There is no need to worry because we refund the Tele Fee if you need to come in for an in-clinic checkup.
You don’t need much—just your phone and a stable Internet connection. Prior to your teleconsultation, make sure you have a properly functioning mobile phone or a laptop and a mic, and Internet speed of at least 1 Mbps. It would help to stay in a private environment for a calm and uninterrupted consultation.
You get easy access to Asian Eye doctors. Through Asian Eye Tele, you don’t need to go to any of our clinics to see an Asian Eye doctor. You only need to call the Asian Eye Tele hotlines, let us know what you’re experiencing and we’ll refer you to the right doctor. You can also tell us if you have any preferred doctor and we’ll set you an appointment with them.
You can request a copy of your prescription and even a medical certificate. Asian Eye Tele provides a copy of your digital prescription, which you can use to purchase medicine at www.asianeyeshop.com or your preferred drugstore. We can issue your medical certificate, in case you need one.
Kids can get checked, too. Asian Eye’s pediatric ophthalmologists are available on Asian Eye Tele. Aside from the usual symptoms, they can do an initial consultation to see whether your child has any eye alignment issues through an online test called iMeasure.
You can use your HMO. At present, Asian Eye Tele is covered by AVEGA, Flexicare, Intellicare, Insular Health Care and Sun Life Grepa. If you’re using your HMO, make sure to inform the TeleHealth Nurse that will assist you. Our team will then process your request.
It’s important to note that Asian Eye Tele is not a substitute for comprehensive eye exams done in clinics. A comprehensive eye exam is still the best way to determine the overall health of the inner and outer parts of the eye. Patients who have eye emergencies and experience any pain, bleeding or sudden loss of vision, or who have urgent concerns, must visit the clinic or the nearest hospital as soon as possible for a face-to-face checkup.
Setting an appointment is easy—simply call or text the Asian Eye Tele Hotlines at 8- 898-2020 or 0917-800-9103. Asian Eye Tele is available Mondays through Sundays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn more about Asian Eye Tele or visit the Asian Eye Shop to avail of an e-GC for only P400. (Story/Photos by: Charizze Henson)
