Christmas came early for a total of 3,500 pupils from 18 public schools in Sta. Rosa, Laguna as they received “Gusto Kong Mag-Aral” schoolbags and school supplies from Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) and ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc. (ALKFI).

The donation is part of KCFI’s “Basa Bilang” project which aims to help Filipino children in the primary grades read and solve math problems and “become independent learners, confident problem solvers and critical thinkers by the end of Grade 3.”

The ceremonial turnover was held at the Sta. Rosa Elementary School Central II with representatives from the Department of Education, Division of Sta. Rosa City and ALKFI.

The beneficiaries are the elementary schools of Santo Domingo, Don Jose, Malitlit, Dita, Dila, Jose Zavalla Memorial, Caingin, Southville 4 Caingin, Sinalhan, Aplaya, Santa Rosa Central I, Santa Rosa Central II, Santa Rosa Central III, Tagapo, Labas, Macabling, Balibago and Pulong Sta. Cruz.

KCFI’s “Basa Bilang” project plays an active part in championing the education of Filipino youth through its ongoing production of animated learning videos for Grades 1 through 3 in Filipino, English and Math based on DepEd’s textbooks. These videos will soon be distributed on Knowledge Channel’s platforms on air, online and offline.
