Environmental advocates will converge on Thursday, August 22 at the Asian Development Bank auditorium for an open discussion on climate change and ways various sectors may cooperate to adapt to and mitigate its effects.

The event is part of a series of one-day seminars around Asia on Building Critical Mass Awareness of Climate Change – Engaging Media, Advertising and Entertainment Sectors. Organized by ‘Redraw The Line’ climate change awareness campaign, the No Impact Project and the Asia-Pacific Media Alliance for Social Awareness, the seminars will be held in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand.


In the Philippines, expected to participate will be representatives from development agencies, multi-lateral institutions, NGOs, academe, advertising, media and entertainment sector, and private-sector corporations.

Lopez Group chairman emeritus Oscar M. Lopez is the keynote speaker. Mr. Lopez is a passionate champion of the environment and nature lover, as can be seen in the numerous environmental endeavors of the Lopez Group companies and foundations. The OML Center for Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Management Foundation Inc., founded in 2012, continues Mr. Lopez’s work for the environment as well as nation building.

Lopez Group chairman emeritus Oscar M. Lopez is the keynote speaker. Dr. Rodel Lasco, the scientific director of The OML Center and Ging Reyes, head of ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs will present papers on OML Center and ongoing programs to address Climate Change and ABS-CBN News on programming and promoting social issue/climate change.

Under Lasco, the OML Center this year awarded its first batch of grants worth P13 million to seven projects spearheaded by the University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University aimed at mitigating climate change.
