This Mother’s Day, we salute all you working mothers. As a working mother myself, I share in the experience of the many inner conflicts inherent in trying to balance the demands of work and the responsibilities of running a family.
A mother’s most awesome responsibility is raising her children because there is no way a mother should allow herself to fail. There are simply no excuses, you have to persevere in it however challenging that may be.
Motherhood is probably the most important turning point in a woman’s life. Your entire perspective on life, the realization that you are responsible for another human life. Priorities shift and for women who work, it almost requires superhuman effort to get a day done.
I know how being both a mother and a working-woman can be stressful but then again, nothing beats the satisfaction that comes with seeing your child in full bloom. As every child knows, there is no substitute in this world to a mother’s touch, a mother’s care and a mother’s love.
Every mother goes on a journey that shapes, moves, inspires and drives them to be the best person they can be.
And as working mothers we are perhaps in a better position to raise today’s children because we are more in tune with their changing needs. Working at a career broadens our perspectives, giving us the insights needed to communicate with a whole new generation growing up in an environment so different from ours.
Let us celebrate motherhood today by recognizing the contributions of all mothers. We pay give tribute to the OFW mothers working in cramped or oppressive conditions as they sacrifice to give their children the best opportunities in life. We should also thank the people who made us the women that we are – family members, friends and colleagues.
To all the mothers in the workplace, in the household, or in both, Happy Mother’s Day!
Sincerely,
CEDIE
