Lopez Achievement Awards (LAA) have been set at ABS-CBN’s Studio 10 on October 18, 2017. The theme “Scaling Up Through Excellence and Innovation” has been chosen for the event which marks the 15th year of the annual competitions.
This year’s formal awarding ceremonies for theFinal deliberations for the selection of winners have gone to the level of the Lopez Group executive committee following endorsements of the finalists from the panel of judges.
Very high standards
Since its launch in 2002, LAA has kept its very high standards and the rigorous process of selection by a screening committee, then by a panel of judges and finally by the Lopez executive committee which is comprised mostly of Lopez family members holding senior official positions.
In a sense, this makes the LAA an expression of the Lopez family’s appreciation of employees’ invaluable contributions to the business.
While only a few outstanding entries make it to the final cut, chairman emeritus Oscar M. Lopez has said that “there is a very, very fine line between those who make it to the winner’s circle and those who don’t. While the process compels the selection of winners and, therefore, of non-winners, in my book all of you are winners and all of you deserve… (our) thanks, admiration and respect.”
Enriched
For the past few years, the LAA awarding ceremonies have been enriched with the announcement of the Lifetime Achievement Awards, which recognize the career-long contributions of key employees, and the Unsung Heroes Awards, which honor the rank-and-file employees up to managerial level.
“Time and again, the nominators and nominees have given the feedback to the LAA program management team that they are most excited to win the prestigious award. This is because unlike awards given by industry associations or socio-civic or business groups, the LAA is endorsed by peers and fellow employees and granted by the Lopez family, which make the recognition even more invaluable,” said Rosendo Hamo Jr., LAA program manager under the Business Excellence (BE) team headed by Asian Eye Institute president Benjamin Liboro, the LAA program director.
Outstanding accomplishments
Karen Ventura and Glenda Discutido, who make up the rest of the BE team, are requesting parties who wish to confirm their attendance or have inquiries about the awarding ceremonies to contact them at tel. nos. 449-6032 and 449-6043 or at the LAA program management office at the Rockwell Business Center.
There have been more activities to disseminate the winners’ outstanding accomplishments, such as in the annual LAA Winners’ Summit, to a wider audience to encourage their replication or improvements in other business operations of the Group. Internal and external publicity, including the Group’s social media facilities, is also increasingly being used to boost awareness and application of the LAA accomplishments and innovations.
