Fete to raise funds for advocacies of ‘Kapitan’The Lopez Group honors Eugenio “Geny” Lopez Jr., also known as “Kapitan,” on what would have been his 86th birthday (November 4) through an event called “Manila in the Mood.”
The November 3 gala dinner at the Raffles & Fairmont Makati Hotel aims to raise funds for underserved communities in 15 provinces helped by ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc., which is also marking its 25th anniversary.
Gina Lopez now serves as the chair of the foundation established by her father.
“What an opportune time to have a celebration of an institution which he began... and to raise funds for something he deeply believed in, which is the preservation of the beauty of our country and the alleviation of poverty as well,” Lopez says. ABS-CBN chairman emeritus Oscar M. Lopez is the honorary chairman for the event.
