Drop Cover And Hold PositionsDrop Cover And Hold PositionsBenpres Building will participate in the regionwide Metro Manila Shake Drill spearheaded by Metro Manila Development Authority which starts at exactly 10:30 a.m. next Thursday, July 30.

According to First Philippine Realty Corp., those who work or are otherwise present in the building on July 30 will join by practicing the Drop, Cover and Hold position.

This means: take cover under the nearest sturdy table or desk and cover yourself against any hard objects that might fall on your head during the tremor. Constantly look around you so as to be able to avoid any falling objects or debris. If there is no table or desk nearby, drop to the ground in an inside corner of the building and cover your head and neck with your hands and arms.

After 45 seconds, a bell will ring to indicate that the “shaking has stopped.”

Tenants will then proceed to the designated evacuation area, where a head count will be done by the HR/Safety Practitioner in charge to make sure that everyone has evacuated the building and is accounted for.

Once the building is found to be safe or without major damage, the Incident Commander Oscar L. Lopez, Jr. will give the order for the employees to re-enter their offices.

At 8 p.m. also on July 30, the building will take part in the Earthquake Night Drill to be led by Barangay San Antonio and the Pasig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

“Victims” will be trapped inside the building who will be rescued by members of the Bureau of Fire Protection using aerial ladders.

Benpres Building’s Emergency First Responders will be on hand to take part in this rescue procedure.

The Benpres Building Incident Command System shall be activated during both drills, after which we will assess and evaluate the execution of the exercise to identify areas for improvement.
