The Lopez Learning Synergy Summit (LLSS) 2024 brought together leaders, IT professionals and human resource (HR) practitioners of the Lopez Group of companies across diverse business interests. Hosted by Rockwell Land Corporation and Asian Eye Institute, experts from education, medicine, HR and technology led talks on inspiring human connection in the age of AI.
This year’s summit, held at The Fifth at Rockwell on Nov. 14, 2024, was filled with fresh perspectives on exploring AI as a means of enhancing community efforts, developing employee skills and creating business value through improved productivity. The talks emphasized leveraging AI to inspire human connection.
“The potential impact of tech and gen AI is enormous. We are in the messy beginnings, where we are tremendously excited about the efficiencies and impact this could have. Over time, the administration side will likely become easier or more automated,” said Anna Karina Gerochi, vice president (VP) of First Philippine Holdings Corporation (FPH). “There will always be an unbelievable need for a human element that cantranslate even self-serve tools to help a colleague in need.”
The day’s speakers included FPH chief sustainability officer Agnes de Jesus, who gave the audience an overview of how the group has been integrating AI in ESG data storage and analytics, in disaster response, and forest protection, among others.
“Technology is a source of power, but power without good intentions is dangerous,” de Jesus noted.
Oscar M. Lopez Center executive director Dr. Rodel Lasco shared the potential of AI in climate science, resilience and the power of predicting outcomes, while Frontlearners founder Leo de Velez explored how AI can be used for educa - tion, especially for marginalized communities. It is one avenue AI can be utilized for broader audiences.
Asian Eye SVP for customer services Dr. Patricia Manuel expounded on the use of AI among retinal imaging de - vices for community-based eye screening. This paves the way for early treatment and better strategic impact.
Ernie Imperial, First Gen Corporation VP and chief digi - tal officer, argued that AI re - minds us of the other side of the screen, how it unleashes a spec - trum of emotions, development and embedding. “Be as rigorous about introducing humanity as you are about introducing tech - nology,” he stressed.
SGV & Co. technology consulting principal Lee Carlo Abadia showed new ways we can apply AI in specific use cases and also in terms of pro - ductivity and efficiency and, ul - timately, effectiveness.
Workday Inc. regional vice president Raghu Prasad dis - cussed how humanizing AI shapes the future of work, from process automation and efficien - cy to employee engagement and maximizing human potential.
LLSS 2024 included a vari - ety of games and raffle prizes for the attendees. Guests were also provided ample time to so - cialize with fellow profession - als, exchanging internal knowl - edge and insights on leadership, business strategies and personal development.
