ABS-CBN University is composed of six academies: the Moving Images Academy headed by ABS-CBN president Charo Santos-Concio, Leadership Academy headed by Mark Nepomuceno, Digital Academy headed by Donald Lim, Journalism Academy headed by Boo Chanco, Service and Business Excellence Academy headed by Raffy Aguado and Liberal Studies Academy headed by Fr. Tito Caluag.
These academies will provide employees with practical knowledge, business knowledge, managing of competencies, and task-oriented education. ABS-CBN chairman and ABS-CBN University president Eugenio Lopez III (EL3) stressed the importance of emergent leadership as ABS-CBN moves into a digital environment.
“Emergent leaders are the ones who know when to lead and when to follow. They are very different from the typical Type A leaders who always need to be the one in control. And ABS-CBN University will be a way to identify and develop emergent leaders,” said EL3 in his speech at the launch event held at the Dolphy Theater.
Santos-Concio meanwhile assured the future students of ABS-CBN University: “You will not be treated like high school or college students whose all actions will be judged. Let us take the example of the advance management programs of the graduate schools, where we are all equal, there’s no boss, no subordinate, we are all students.”
University head Gabriel Orendain said that the teaching technique of ABS-CBN University will be based on a 70-20- 10 learning philosophy—70% action-based, 20% partnership with mentors and coaches and 10% formal classroom training.
He added that 21 courses will be delivered in 2014 across the six academies. In 2015, 11 more courses will be added.
Details for the enrollment process for each course can be accessed on the official website of ABS-CBN University (http://www.university.abs-cbn.com). (Kane Choa)
