HR Council chair Cedie Lopez Vargas welcomes the HRs and summit guestsThe Lopez Group HR Council held its 13th Lopez HR Summit last November 27, 2014 (at the Training Hall of ELJ Corporate Center, in ABS CBN Compound, Quezon City.
The HR Summit is the annual gathering of our HR practitioners and leaders from the Lopez Group of companies, as well as our CEOs and important guests. Attendees look forward to each year’s summit as they are able to learn through its learning sessions, and they are able discuss important and timely HR developments, trends and issues.
This year, the Lopez HR practitioners recognized the changing and shifting landscape where employers and employees find themselves in, and came up with the very timely and relevant theme of “Kalokalife - Gearing Up to the ‘New Normal’ “ Ably hosting this year’s HR Summit is ABS-CBN.
Lopez Group Chairman Manuel M. Lopez giving the inspirational messageThe HR Summit opened in an inspiring note with Lopez HR Council Chair Ms. Mercedes “Cedie” Varas giving the welcome remarks. This was followed by the inspirational message of Lopez Group Chairman Manuel M. Lopez. Meanwhile, ABS-CBN Access Head, and SKY President and CEO Carlo Katigbak gave a well-received opening message about showing passion amidst the changes brought by the new normal.
A key draw of the HR Summit was also the keynote speech given by Albay Governor Jose Ma. Clementa Salceda, where he talked of his experiences managing his constituents, and helping them cope and prepare while they were under the threat of a volcano eruption.
The CEO Forum, another favored part of the HR Summit because of the sharing of best practices from captains of industries, was graced by Holcim Philippines President and CEO Eduardo Sahagun, Coca-Cola Femsa Philippines Asia-Pacific CEO Juan Ramon Felix, and ABS-CBN Head of Corporate Services Group 1 Mark Nepomuceno, who represented ABS-CBN President and CEO Charo Santos-Concio.
ABS-CBN Access Head and SKY President and CEO Carlo Katigbak at the podium giving his opening messageThe afternoon brought more learnings for the attendees as the HR Summit’s plenary learning sessions featured learning and performance consultant Luigi Mapa with his talk on “Introduction: Multi-Generation Workforce”; professor, columnist, and author Dr. Queena Lee-Chua who talked on “The Multi-Generational Workforce”; The Carl Jung Circle Center Vice President for External Affairs Joji Racelis who tacked “Enhancing Emotional Intelligence, Through Self-Discovery”; and ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management Head Robert Labayen who shared his talk on “Creativity in the Workplace”.
As the HR Summit drawed to an end, ABS-CBN Chairman Eugenio Lopez III spoke to the hearts and minds of the attendees with his closing motivational remarks.
Acting as the capable hosts and moderators of the HR Summit was ABS-CBN’s TJ Manotoc, SKY’s AR Ticzon, and ABS-CBN’s Arvin Crisol.
As a tradition, a Fellowship Night capped the HR Summit and it saw the HR practicitioners building stronger networks, and enjoying themselves with the food, games, raffles and entertainment. (Story/photos by Dimpy Jazmines)
