This year, the event was held at the new training hall of the First Philippine Holdings Group at the Rockwell Business Center in Ortigas and was attended by more than 170 members on October 12, 2016.

The technical updates discussed the various risk management topics and addressed issues and concerns related to the latest activities being done in accounting, the most recent regulations in tax and the Securities and Exchange Commission with regard to financial reporting and the year-end audit reminders and schedules.

The welcome remarks were given by Gemma Roque, group comptroller of First Philippine Holdings Corporation, while the seminar was hosted by Comptrollers’ Circle core team member Jei-Jei Gertes.

The whole-day affair was conducted by SGV & Co. The speakers were all partners from SGV & Co.—Leo Matignas, Noel Rabaja, Benjamin Villacorte, Editha Estacio and Vivian Cruz-Ruiz.

During the break, the group was serenaded by “The Voice Kids” grand champion Joshua Oliveros.

On December 16, 2016, the Comptrollers’ Circle will hold its annual general assembly at the ELJ Communications Center.

This group-wide conference is being organized annually to update comptrollers and accounting and finance officers on current developments in relevant topics outside the sphere of accounting and financial reporting with the end in view of assisting comptrollers in their personal development.

This event will also coincide with the group’s Christmas party aimed at fostering fellowship and camaraderie.

This year marks the 17th year of the Comptrollers’ Circle. Through the years, it has continuously aimed to provide management with real-time, useful, accurate and reliable financial statements, ensuring that individual company interests, processes and procedures are aligned with best practices standards and to promote worklife balance among its members.

Aside from the Lopez Group activities, the Comptrollers’ Circle is also actively participating in various professional organizations such as Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants or PICPA, Association of Certified Public Accountants in Commerce and Industry or ACPACI, Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice or ACPAPP and the Tax Management Association of the Philippines or TMAP.
