“Fundraising is more than looking for money, it is all about friend raising,” so said Marianne Quebral, executive director of OML Center.
Quebral was the main resource speaker of the Lopez Group Foundation Inc.’s (LGFI) Toolkit Session on Fundraising held at the Rockwell Business Center-Ortigas on April 24. The session discussed how the Lopez foundations can generate muchneeded funds from grants, gifts and earned incomes.
LGFI president Cedie Lopez-Vargas, in her opening message, noted that the session was a product of a training needs analysis conducted last year where the respondents from the Lopez Group CSR Council signified their need to learn how to raise funds. She also underscored the relevance of the session in ensuring the sustainability of the programs and projects of the foundations. The toolkit session was attended by more than 30 participants from ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc., Ang Misyon Inc., Lopez Holdings, Mount Apo Foundation Inc., LGFI, First Gen Corporation and Energy Development Corporation.
Since the event was simply an orientation session on raising funds, Quebral encouraged the foundations present to set aside a longer discussion exclusively for their organization since “each organization’s need and fundraising capacity is different.”
Quebral pledged to help each organization by sharing her more than a decade of experience in raising funds, having founded Venture for Fundraising in 1999 and generated over $10 million for the organixzations she worked with before joining the Lopez Group. (Story/Photos by: Faith Bacon)
