For over 19 years now, the Lopez Group Comptrollers’ Circle has held its regular annual conference on accounting, taxation and regulatory updates. The event, held at the Rockwell Business Center in Ortigas on October 11, was attended by more than 180 members.
The seminar included the latest updates in accounting and tax regulations which are relevant and applicable to the comptrollers group, as well as information pertaining to financial reporting and the yearend audit reminders and schedules.
The topics discussed were revenue from contracts with customers, related party transactions and disclosures, accounting for employee benefits, and tax updates which include the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion law of the comprehensive tax reform program.
The whole-day affair was conducted by SGV & Co. and the speakers were all partners from the audit, business advisory and tax group. The SGV partners included Editha Estacio, Noel Rabaja, Ma. Emelita Villanueva, Ysmael Acosta and Frances Rose Villamayor.
On December 12, the Comptrollers’ Circle will hold its annual general assembly at the ELJ Communications Center in Quezon City. This group-wide conference is organized annually to update Lopez Group comptrollers and accounting and finance officers on current developments on relevant topics outside the sphere of accounting and financial reporting, with the end in view of assisting them in their personal development.
The event will coincide with the group’s Christmas party aimed at fostering fellowship and camaraderie among the members.
This year marks the 19th year of the Comptrollers’ Circle. Through the years, it has continuously aimed to provide management with real-time, useful, accurate and reliable financial statements, ensuring that individual company interests, processes and procedures are aligned with best practices standards, and to promote work-life balance among its members.
Aside from Lopez Group activities, the Comptrollers’ Circle also actively participates in various professional organizations, particularly the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Certified Public Accountants in Commerce and Industry, and Tax Management Association of the Philippines.
