Retail operations head
As head of retail operations, Hernandez manages the day-today operations of three departments—Books, Contract Publishing and Circulation. Part of her job entails making sure their books are published and delivered on time and targets are met. She joined ABS-CBN Books in 2013 after a stint at One Mega Group. Hernandez graduated from Assumption College with an AB Mass Communication degree.
Maria Kuiejor Garces
Book editor
Garces is in charge of final editing and proofreading of manuscripts, recruiting authors both local and international, conceptualizing design, visuals and format of books, and creating book concepts specifically for personalities, online influencers and celebrities. The BS Nursing graduate of Dela Salle Lipa joined ABS-CBN Books in 2016 after working at PSICOM Publishing Inc. and VIVAPSICOM Publishing Inc. as an editor in chief.
Jovi Figueroa
Book editor
The main responsibilities of Figueroa, who joined the Books team in 2018, include editing manuscripts and creating book concepts. She works closely with Star Cinema to bring blockbuster films to print. She used to be an editor for “StarStudio,” “Asian Dragon” and “Woman Today.” Currently, she is a contributor for Metro. style and a columnist at “Speed” magazine. Figueroa graduated from UP Diliman with a degree in journalism.
Noella Ann Fonbuena
Book operations coordinator
Former ABS-CBN News Channel intern Fonbuena came on board in 2011 after completing her degree in mass communication at Trinity University of Asia. As books operations coordinator, she assists in print publishing operations, helps the book editors with editorial concerns, coordinates with authors regarding contracts and payment, and monitors the book printing process.
Alexie Renz Cruz
Books marketing manager
Cruz, a journalism graduate of University of Santo Tomas, moved from PSICOM Publishing Inc. to ABS-CBN Books in 2014 as the Books publisher for titles like “Stupid is Forever” and the “Dear Alex” series. In 2019, he took on the role of marketing manager. His responsibilities include developing strategies and coordinating marketing campaigns to help promote ABSCBN Books.
