Star Cinema’s two entries, “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” and “Feng Shui 2” raked in a combined, whopping P640 million in December’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) making it the ABS-CBN film production and movie distribution company’s highest record to date in the annual film festival.

According to a report from abs-cbnnews.com, the Vice Ganda starrer, “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin,” delivered the highest grossing film to date with P415 million. The film also scored the highest grossing opening day record of P53.3 million.

“Feng Shui” which stars Kris Aquino and Coco Martin and directed by Chito S. Roño, earned a total of P225 million, making it the highest grossing Filipino horror movie. The thriller ranked second at the holiday box office in the Philippines.

The collective earnings of the two Star Cinema films in the MMFF 2014 beat entries of the same film company in the 2013 MMFF, “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy” and “Pagpag: Siyam Na Buhay” with a total gross of P618.8 million.

“The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin,” is a sequel to the Wenn V. Deramas “Praybeyt Benjamin” released in 2011. Similarly, “Feng Shui 2” is a follow-up hit with the same title which first moved viewers back in 2004.

As a treat to kababayans all over the world, The Filipino Channel (TFC) shares the two movie phenomena worldwide via Pay Per View on TFC’s internet protocol (IPTV) service in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia, and Japan this February. TFC’s official online service, TFC.tv will also release the horrifying tale of Lotus Feet (main character of “Feng Shui 2”) starting February 4 while the family comedy film “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” will be available starting February 24 worldwide.
