Asian Eye earns platinum recognition from Accreditation Canada

Rosa (seated, rightmost), with Accreditation Canada auditors Asia Eye recently received a platinum-level status from Accreditation Canada International (ACI), raising the bar further, from gold to platinum, in patient safety practice.

ACI is a nonprofit organization that evaluates organizations based on safety and quality improvement standards. At present, it has over 1,000 health and social service organizations and 7,000 sites on five continents around the world.

“The reaccreditation by ACI is a seal of quality,” says Asian Eye president Benjamin Liboro. “It is a testament to our continuing commitment to offering an international standard of care in patient safety, high quality services and innovation.”

The ACI accreditation arrived just as Asian Eye is culminating its 15th anniversary celebration.

Vice president and general manager Alwin Sta. Rosa shares: “This is timely as we celebrate a significant milestone and look forward to better things ahead. We take pride in the efforts that our team exerted to achieve this. It also inspires us to continue to improve our processes and facilities as we expand to serve our patients better.”

Asian Eye began its push for international accreditation
by adopting the ACI standards in 2010. It is the first and only private ambulatory eye care facility in the Philippines to receive international health care accreditation.

From one surgical clinic in Rockwell Center in 2001, Asian Eye now has a network of nine clinics manned by 18 internationally trained specialists. It is now the largest eye center in the country, serving 60,000 patients every year. (Story/Photos by: Charizze Henson)
