More than 340 individuals and 23 Lopez companies took part in the Healthy Steps Challenge, which was one of the activities that ran in June during Envi Month.
In the Healthy Steps Challenge, participants were asked to join a virtual Walk the Talk activity where they walk (or run) at their own pace, locations and time, and then measure and declare their steps using pedometers, apps or devices.
The challenge only asked joiners to accomplish 10,000 steps for the whole month of June, but as the program results showed, many of the participants chose to go above and beyond this requirement. “Do the challenge with flying colors, with steps in the six-figure range? Consider it done,” some of the participants seemed to say.
The program was not just about physical steps, though. Attendance in the other Lopez Envi Month activities—such as the Lopez HR Council’s Walk the Talk at La Mesa Watershed, ABS-CBN’s Step It Up contest, ABS-CBN Foundation Inc.’s science mentoring session in Lobo, Batangas, and First Philippine Holdings Corporation-First Gen Corporation’s “CarbonSense” learning session—also earned participants corresponding points that they could add to their Healthy Steps Challenge scores.
What’s more, even family members and friends were in on the challenge too, as steps they made were credited to their respective sponsoring employees.
The top five individual participants in terms of the most number of steps and the top five companies in terms of the most number of participants computed per percentage would get trees planted in their name at La Mesa Watershed.
If they are available, the five top individual participants and representatives from each of the top five companies will be invited during the schedule of the actual tree planting.
Congratulations to our Healthy Steps Challenge winners! The organizers will share a list of all participants and points to the companies.
