Lopez Group composed of employees and their family and friends took time out from their usual weekend undertakings to help in the improvement of Carlos P. Garcia High School (CPGHS) in Quezon City in the Lopez Brigada Eskwela held on June 2.
More than 90 volunteers from theKnowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI), Lopez Lifelong Wellness and Lopez Group Foundation Inc. (LGFI) sponsored this year’s activity.
KCFI president Rina LopezBautista thanked principal Dr. Leonie Lauigan and other officials for the warm welcome they extended to the Lopez Group volunteers.
This was followed by the ceremonial turnover of donations—a TV set, ABS-CBN TVplus box, first aid cabinets and vegetable seedlings from KCFI, SKY, Energy Development Corporation (EDC) and LGFI, respectively—to the school officials.
August Villalon of the EDC Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response Unit (EPDRU) conducted a safety briefing before the start of the activity.
The volunteers proceeded to the plant box made of ecobricks, courtesy of First Balfour, to plant the vegetable seedlings.
The TV set and the ABSCBN TVplus box were installed at the school’s Learning Resource Center as KCFI’s Edric Calma provided the CPGHS personnel with updates on Knowledge Channel.
The educators also sat down for a talk on flooding and fire safety conducted by Villalon and Alfred Go of SKY’s Emergency Response team.
