When Louise delos Reyes came in for her LASIK consultation, she said that she just didn’t want to wear eyeglasses or contact lenses anymore. As a busy actress, shooting days are long and wearing contact lenses can take its toll, leading to tired and irritated eyes. Aside from that, not all characters she plays wear eyeglasses, like Dess in the 2019 film “My Bakit List.” She later played Aileen in “Deleter” with Nadine Lustre in 2022.
In her downtime, Delos Reyes is a self-confessed gamer who spent hours on her computer or Nintendo Switch during the pandemic. But her most pressing concern was starting classes in a pastry arts program. She didn’t want to worry about eyeglasses sliding off or getting dry eyes while working in a hot kitchen.
After a comprehensive LASIK screening and retina check followed by a discussion on the process, the risks and the benefits with LASIK surgeon Dr. Mario Padilla, Delos Reyes decided to go for it. The procedure itself was only 20 minutes long and she was able to go home right after. She also had follow-up visits with Padilla as part of the LASIK package for all Asian Eye patients to monitor their recovery, and it allowed Delos Reyes to see how her vision improved as her eyes healed.
After one month, she shared, “I have been wearing glasses since I was young and the feeling of not wearing them now is quite liberating. I still find myself doing the same mannerisms I had before which is quite funny.” Indeed, your eyes get used to the change quickly after surgery, but your habits take longer to break.
Although Delos Reyes had fears about undergoing surgery, she felt she made the right choice, saying, “Thank you Asian Eye Institute for convincing me to undergo LASIK surgery. I really needed that extra push, and to Dr. Padilla who guided me throughout the surgery.”
Delos Reyes has since received her pastry arts certificate and is an active brand endorser and content creator. She is scheduled to be back on-screen with some new projects. Even greater things lie ahead for Delos Reyes and now she can forge ahead confidently with her clear vision.
