First Balfour’s growing equipment fleet is the LTM 1160-5.1 Liebherr allterrain mobile crane. Having a 160-ton lifting capacity, it is now one of the Plant and Equipment division’s biggest mobile cranes.
The newest addition toThe LTM 1160-5.1, custom colored to match the First Balfour blue, is the first of its kind in the country today. It has a modern drive concept powered by a six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 370kW/503hp, making it more maneuverable compared to other cranes of its kind. Lifting loads is very precise with its 62-meter telescopic boom, a precision that is essential to the ongoing construction of a high-value building in Makati, the project site where the mobile crane has been deployed.
The crane’s operation is powered by Liebherr Computed Controlling or LICCON, a program embedded in the operator’s cab which has several applications: a safe load indicator that can determine the weight being lifted, a telescoping program which visualizes the extension of the hydraulic boom, a test system which simplifies the identification of errors in the crane and a work area-limiting system which limits and constraints crane movement according to the work planner and the work being performed.
