FIRST Balfour completed its accommodation project for the front liners of The Medical City (TMC) at the Metrotent Convention Center in Pasig on April 18, 2020.
An initiative of First Philippine Holdings Corporation (FPH), the project addresses the need for comfortable sleeping spaces for the hospital personnel and support staff of TMC who are affected by the shutdown of mass public transportation following the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
The project was led by First Balfour Industrial Projects Division (IPD) head Rey Villar, IPD energy sector head Nelson Cartagena and project manager Jerwin Benosa.
Metrotent, a 1,440-square meter event venue, was converted into a facility with 40 bullpup tents and 120 mattresses complete with pillows, linens and blankets. It offers basic amenities such as access to clean bathrooms and internet connection with six WiFi routers provided by SKYcable.
FPH will also be providing food catering services for TMC personnel while First Balfour will ensure the provision of reliable power supply by refueling its two 400-kVA generator sets daily.
“Our company [TMC] is really in awe of the generosity coming from the Lopez Group. We were just expecting mattresses but tents were provided too to give more privacy to our women personnel. Food will also be provided for our staff and for that, we are really grateful,” said Mary Joy Barbin, TMC project coordinator for board and lodging.
Metrotent is available for use until June 15, 2020.
