First Gen Corporation bagged two Silver Anvils for its Employee POWER (EmPOWER) employee volunteerism program and SEAtizen webinar series at the 57th Anvil Awards.
EmPOWER, which won in the Public Relations Program category, was initially led by First Gen’s corporate social responsibility team in 2005. It has evolved to become primarily an employee-led program headed by the EmPOWER core team members composed of volunteers from different departments. It provides employees an avenue for personal social responsibility and contributes to various social advocacies. It aims to build camaraderie, boost employee morale and strengthen employee engagement.
The two-part interactive SEAtizen webinar series entitled “SEAtizen Story and SEAtizen Travels,” meanwhile, won a Silver Anvil Award in the Public Relations Tools category. The webinars were conducted in celebration of Philippine Environment Month and World Oceans Day in June 2021. It featured the residents of Lobo, Batangas, who highlighted how valuable the ocean is to them, and showcased their mangrove forest. It also promoted ecotourism in the area and generated financial support that benefited individuals and families in Brgy. Lagadlarin whose livelihoods were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vice president Shirley Cruz expressed her pride in First Gen for winning its first Anvils and thanked everyone for supporting the company’s CSR programs.
