On June 29, Walk the Talk Reimagined (WTT+) welcomed a total of 417 participants including group executives, organizer-volunteers, employees, friends and loved ones from the Lopez Group. Twenty-three out of 28 Lopez Group companies were represented at the event which was held at Eugenio Lopez Center in Antipolo City.
WTT+ gives life to a tradition started in 2006 by the late chairman emeritus Oscar M. Lopez or OML, as he is fondly called across the Lopez Group. It is a day the Group celebrates lifelong wellness. But, this 2024, the Lopez Group HR Council reimagined the original Walk the Talk to include the themes of environmental sustainability, safety and security, thus redubbing the event as “Walk the Talk Reimagined.”
For this year’s second WTT+, three milestones were celebrated as part of the event: in honor of Arbor Day officially celebrated on June 25 each year in the country, the walk included an Arbor Day station where participants planted some twoto three-foot fruit-bearing seedlings; June is Environment Month and WTT+ served as a way to culminate a series of activities under the Lopez Envi Festival highlighting the theme “Kapamilya Para sa Kapaligiran”; and the commemoration of the 63rd founding anniversary of First Philippine Holdings Corporation (FPH), for which a thanksgiving mass was held.
Drawing from Lopez HR Council chairperson Mercedes Lopez Vargas’ message of #GenerationRestoration, participants experienced the joy of spending time to recharge and rejuvenate through the game booths, a weekend market and a combined forest and paved trail for participants. In honor of environmental sustainability, participants brought plastic recyclables as part of their registration. Fifty fruit-bearing seedlings and 150 herbs of various types were planted as a result of the event. Companies pledged raffle and game prizes, adding to the event’s fanfare.
The event was sponsored by FPH and First Gen Corporation and made possible with key logistical, security and communications support of company focals across the Lopez Group. Dedicated support was extended by Third Generation Holdings Corporation, Eugenio Lopez Center, Energy Development Corporation (EDC), EDC BINHI, First Balfour, Oscar M. Lopez Center and Lopez Group Foundation Inc.
WTT+ is expected to have a third round before the year ends. Further details will be announced once available.
