JUNE is a season of new beginnings. As children return to classrooms, families prepare school bags and baon, and teachers welcome another year of learning, Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) also marks a meaningful milestone: 27 years of serving Filipino learners, educators, families and communities.
This year’s school opening comes at a hopeful time for Philippine education. With the implementation of Republic Act No. 12199, early childhood development is receiving stronger national attention, including support for transforming daycare centers into child development centers and creating plantilla positions for child development workers (CDWs).
For KCFI, this affirms a belief we have carried for 27 years: nation-building begins early. When children are nurtured in their earliest years, they gain a stronger chance to learn well, grow with confidence and thrive in life.
Through the years, KCFI has brought joyful and meaningful learning to children through educational media, teacher training and learning resources delivered on-air, online and offline, especially in underserved communities. Programs such as “Musikantahan,” “Wikaharian,” “Ready, Set, Read!” and “MathDali” help young learners build essential skills in language, reading, numeracy, movement, communication and love for Filipino culture.
But learning does not happen through content alone. It happens through the people who guide children every day. This is why KCFI continues to support teachers, parents, caregivers and CDWs through programs such as online conferences, Learning Effectively Through Enhanced and Evidence-Based Pedagogies or LEEP, KCare and the upskilling program.
We are especially proud that more CDWs trained through our upskilling program recently passed the National Certificate III assessment, bringing the total to 18 passers with a 100% passing rate. Their achievement is a powerful reminder that when we invest in those who care for children, we also invest in the children themselves.
KCFI is helping build stronger local systems through the K-3 Foundational Learning and Nurturing Care pilot in Quezon City. The pilot supports an integrated pathway for children aged 0 to 8 by strengthening coordination, data-based planning and support systems. It shows how local action can create models that may one day be scaled to benefit more children and communities.
As KCFI celebrates its 27th anniversary ( June 14), we thank every teacher, parent, partner, donor, volunteer and advocate who has journeyed with us. Your trust and support have helped us reach more children, especially those who need learning support the most.
As another school year begins, may we renew our shared commitment to every Filipino child. Let us continue working together to build brighter futures through education—one child, one teacher and one community at a time.
