ENERGY Development Corporation (EDC) turned over P11.28 million of electrification fund (EF) under the government-mandated Energy Regulations No. 1-94 (ER 1-94) to the Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative (NORECO II) at the latter’s office in Dumaguete City. Untouched since 2019, the P11-million remittance was turned over to NORECO II following their completion of the Department of Energy’s requirements for the Local Total Electrification Roadmap or LTER.
“This amount turned over to NORECO II is equivalent to the projects proposed,” said Erwin Magallanes, head of corporate relations in Negros. “We value this partnership with NORECO II in fulfilling our mission of forging collaborative pathways for a decarbonized and regenerative future.”
The EF will benefit 13 unserved barangays in the municipality of Valencia with a targeted completion in December. The enhanced Department Circular No. DC2025-10-0023 has increased the remittance rate to P0.03 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity sales from the previously mandated P0.01 per kWh. However, the EF share remains unchanged at 0.5% of the total remitted amount.
