At Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI), we believe that meaningful change is not driven by one, but by many. As a nonprofit organization, our strength lies in working hand in hand with our very first network of collaborators: the companies and employees of the Lopez Group. Since then, we’ve expanded our reach through partnerships with local and global corporations, corporate social responsibility (CSR) arms, foundations, nonprofit organizations, national government agencies and local government units (LGUs)—united in our commitment to uplift education for every Filipino child. The author (2nd from right) with fellow ECD advocates at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Early Childhood Development

Over the past few months, KCFI has been reconnecting with longtime allies and cultivating new relationships aligned with our mission. These partnerships enable us to go further—reaching more families, learning centers, schools and communities—and deepening our impact on early childhood development (ECD) and education.

One recent highlight is the “Kayang-Kaya Para Sa Bata” certificate program, a six-month upskilling initiative for child development workers (CDWs). This program was made possible through a successful global grant and the support of numerous crosssectoral partners: the Rotary Foundation, Rotary Club of Makati Premier District, Rotary District 3830, Rotary Club of Cheonan Dongho (South Korea), Rotary District 3620, the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Council, the LGU of Baras in Rizal, the UP Department of Family Life and Child Development, UNICEF Philippines, the Federation of CDWs and TESDA.

I remain in awe of the countless individuals who have shown deep concern and worked tirelessly to strengthen ECD and education. By enhancing the knowledge, skills and values of those who nurture young learners, we directly support children’s growth and development. Through intensive sessions, mentoring and multimedia learning, we aim to empower early childhood workers to raise healthy, happy and holistically developed Filipinos.

From July 1 to 3, 2025, KCFI participated in two major events: the Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Early Childhood Development and the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) CSR Conference. These gatherings allowed us to reconnect with partners and engage with new ones.

We’re especially proud that our Lobo Integrated Area Development (IAD) program, a collaborative initiative with Lopez Group companies and foundations, was named a finalist in the Outstanding CSR Collaboration Project category at the LCF CSR Awards. Additionally, our “Basa Bilang” project was recognized as one of the top three Outstanding CSR Projects in Arts and Culture. KCFI’s contribution to the Lobo IAD initiative includes training and mentoring programs for elementary and high school science teachers, as well as CDWs and other care providers for young children in Lobo, Batangas. We are grateful and hopeful that these reconnections and new connections will lead to even more meaningful and impactful initiatives.

I’m also pleased to share that KCFI is now a member of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines Inc. On July 16, we attended their general membership meeting, presented our work and met potential partners from various industries. As part of this dynamic network, we look forward to collaborating with like-minded organizations to advance media-based teaching and learning, particularly in early childhood and basic education in the Philippines.

Recently, KCFI presented to the Association of First Philippine Industrial Park Locators in Santo Tomas and Tanauan City, Batangas, to explore collaborative opportunities to support ECD. Twenty-two companies joined us to learn how the Knowledge Channel Portable Media Library (KC PML)— loaded with curriculum-based video lessons—and our training and mentoring programs can support young learners and their teachers.

You can take part, too. Support your local barangay child development center, public elementary school or high school by donating a KC PML or a Knowledge Channel TV—an Android TV preloaded with KCFI video lessons for ECD, elementary or high school levels.
