Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) invites everyone to explore history this August, National History Month, with a lineup of educational shows on Philippine and world history along with award-winning documentaries.KCFI VP Edric Calma hosts the award-winning show ‘Wow’


Among KCFI’s library of history shows is “Pamana,” for Grades 1-4 produced in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. “Pamana” introduces Philippine history, the heraldic code, geography and the spirit of nationalism while highlighting Filipino customs and cultural traditions. KCFI further promotes pride in Filipino identity through “Bayani” (Grades 1-6) and “Wow” (Grades 4-6). It covers Araling Panlipunan (AP) competencies such as understanding local history, fostering Filipino civic responsibility and appreciating the contributions of national heroes to the country. By showcasing the unique folklore, landscapes, cuisine and stories that define provinces, cities and towns, “Wow” supports the learning of AP competencies in local history, geography, cultural identity and economics, among others. For Grades 5 and 6, Kasaysayan TV traces the evolution of the Philippines from precolonial times through the Spanish, American and Japanese occupations to the contemporary era. In partnership with the Justice Cecilia Muñoz Palma Foundation, KCFI produced a Kasaysayan TV episode on the life and legacy of the first woman appointed to the Supreme Court and a key figure in framing the 1987 Constitution. Finally, “Salam High School” for Grade 8 delves into world history, state policies, cultural sensitivity, conflicts and peace and diaspora. Watch the “Salam High School” episode on imperialism and colonization here.

This recognition affirms KCFI’s continued commitment to transforming education, particularly for underserved learners, through innovative, accessible and curriculum-based learning solutions.

Meanwhile, Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata Inc. and KCFI formalized a partnership agreement to produce a video lesson on capacitors based on the high school science curriculum and to provide five Knowledge Channel TV packages to selected public schools in the Schools Division Office of Baguio City.
