The ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra (ABS-CBN P.O.) follows up its Spotlight Series with Andrew Simon at the Meralco Theater on July 24.
Simon, the principal clarinet of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, has been noted for his superb playing style and “almost god-like technique” (Auditorium Magazine).
On this night, he will demonstrate his skill on the clarinet through masterworks written for his instrument. The program includes Copland’s Clarinet Concerto, Weber’s Concertino in E-flat and Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie, Baerman’s Adagio for Clarinet and Orchestra and other pieces prepared by the orchestra.
Only the second feature concert of the ABS-CBN P.O. this year after “The Music of Ryan Cayabyab” at the CCP, the performance will fuel the momentum of the orchestra’s signature brand, Spotlight Series, a chain of concerts featuring masterpieces from world-renowned composers, performers and music masters.
