Although he has done a number of television shows in the past, Piolo Pascual said he is still very excited about his upcoming family soap, “Hawak Kamay.”
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Pascual said the new ABS-CBN series will focus more on the family.
“Filipinos are very family oriented so I believe na makaka-relate ang maraming pamilya. Para sa mga Pilipino talaga ito,” he said.
Piolo plays the role of Gin, a frustrated singer who is left by his girlfriend (Nikki Gil) for a job on a ship.
With little purpose in life, Gin is forced into responsibility when his sister (Jennifer Sevilla) and her husband (Lander Vera Perez) die in a car crash, leaving their three adopted kids (Xyriel Manabat, Zaijian Jaranilla and Yesha Camile) without parents.
Gin gets the help of Bianca (Iza Calzado), a lawyer who arranged the adoption, in transitioning him into a responsible guardian of the children. He also meets a girl under Bianca’s care (Andrea Brillantes), who develops a friendship with the three foster siblings.
“Hawak Kamay” is the third major project of Piolo and Iza together, after the films “Milan” (2004) and “Starting Over Again” (2014).
The primetime series will also be a reunion for Piolo and Zaijian, who both starred in the action- fantasy series “Noah” in 2010. (Excerpted from www.abs-cbnnews. com)
