EVERY new school year is a renewed promise to Filipino learners, a chance to learn, dream and build a brighter future. Guided by its mission to ensure that no learner is left behind, Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) continues to bridge education gaps through innovative educational media, teaching technologies and meaningful partnerships.
KCFI received nominations at the inaugural FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards happening later this month. Nominated for Best Educational Show, “Kinder Yes!” is a series funded through a grant from the National Council for Children’s Television that builds foundational concepts and promotes positive Filipino values among young children. Meanwhile, nominated for Best Documentary, “WOW” is KCFI’s educational travel show that explores the rich geography, history and culture of various Philippine localities. Its Kidapawan episode, coproduced with First Gen-Energy Development Corporation, highlights the area’s rich biodiversity and the conservation of the Apo myna.
KCFI vice president and “WOW” host Edric Calma also received a nomination for Best Host for Entertainment, recognizing his engaging onscreen presence and his ability to effectively guide viewers through the country’s natural heritage and biodiversity.
On the ground, KCFI and Megawide Foundation partnered to expand learning opportunities across Mega Manila. United by a shared goal of narrowing gaps in access to quality education, Knowledge Channel Portable Media Library and Knowledge Channel TV (KC TV) packages were rolled out to eight beneficiary schools and child development centers across Cavite, Metro Manila and Rizal.
Calma, who is also the vice chair of the board of the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF), presented at the 15th anniversary of the Department of Science and Technology-Science and Technology Information Institute’s STARBOOKS. Discussing KCFI’s multimedia initiatives alongside LCF’s framework for stakeholder collaboration, he highlighted how STARBOOKS integrates
KCFI’s disaster preparedness modules and the “Estudyantipid” financial literacy show into its digital library reaching remote schools and communities across the archipelago.
On July 9, KCFI and the Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata Inc. officially launched the new episode of “Next Level” on environmental conservation and awareness. The launch was accompanied by a turnover of five KC TV packages to public high schools in Ifugao. The actual turnover and distribution of the KC TV packages were carried out the following day, bringing quality educational content and the newly launched episode directly into classrooms where they can enrich teaching and learning.
As learners and educators gain enhanced access to learning resources this July, we invite the Lopez Group to join this growing advocacy. Partner with us to cocreate impactful CSR projects, leverage our platforms and help shape a brighter, more educated future for Filipino learners.
