Energy Development Corporation (EDC) turned over 12 laptops to four upland schools in Bago City as part of the “Adopta-School” partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd)-Division of Bago City on June 17, 2025. The recipient schools are Cristeta A. Dormido Elementary School, Mailum Elementary School, RM Araneta Elementary School and Ramon Torres Louisiana National High School.
“We are confident that this contribution will enable the talented teachers in these schools to effectively utilize technology, leading to a substantial improvement in the quality of education and a richer learning experience for their students,” Erwin Magallanes, head of EDC Negros’ corporate relations department, said at the turnover.
Through its SIKAT Adopt-aSchool program, EDC is committed to supporting its host communities. This commitment reflects the company’s belief that investing in education will help transform learners into future change-drivers in their respective host communities and spheres of influence.
“We thank EDC for not only developing energy, but also developing our learners,” Helen dela Cruz, school head of the Ramon Torres Louisiana National High School, said in her message. She noted that “it takes a village to raise a child,” recounting that her daughter and her nephew were beneficiaries of the SIKAT scholarship program and have since “reached their goals”—highlighting the long-term impact of EDC’s banner education program.
On June 9, EDC employees and contractors joined the 2025 “Brigada Eskwela” kickoff program, participating in a four-day school maintenance activity to support the DepEd’s 2025 Brigada Eskwela theme, “Sama-sama Para sa Bayang Bumabasa.” EDC also took part in a tree-planting activity led by the Office of the Vice President.
