Aligned with the National Children’s Month theme, “OSAEC‑CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!,” Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) continues to champion children’s rights and access to quality education, a mission it has upheld for 26 years.KCFI2

The foundation signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Solar Pictures Inc. on Nov. 6 to provide an additional platform for Knowledge Channel.

Knowledge Channel continues to expand its reach through this partnership and helps revitalize DepEd TV by airing KCFI’s curriculum-based video lessons on a dedicated digital channel provided by Solar Pictures.

“Kinder Yes!” was launched during the 28th anniversary of the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) on Oct. 24. Produced through an NCCT grant, the series teaches early childhood competencies such as the Filipino alphabet, shapes and colors through songs, rhymes and animations rooted in local culture, all aligned with the DepEd curriculum.

NCCT also recognized KCFI with the Outstanding Commitment to Child-friendly Content Standards (CFCS) award, while flagship shows “MathDali” and “Wikaharian” earned honors for exemplary adherence to CFCS.

KCFI also launched 10 new episodes of its agriculture video lesson series, “AgriKids,” produced in partnership with the Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Training Institute on Oct. 25.

Looking ahead, KCFI will launch a new episode of its travel show “Wow” on Nov. 29 in Dumaguete.

Produced with Energy Development Corporation, “Wow: Negros (Laya)” highlights the critically endangered Visayan hornbill and connects cultural knowledge with environmental conservation.

Helping in the creation of these shows is the Knowledge Channel Volunteer and Internship Program (KCVIP).

On Oct. 10, KCFI welcomed 82 new interns and volunteers, celebrating them as “Champions for Children, Builders of Tomorrow.” Now in its eighth year, KCVIP provides young, passionate Filipinos with the opportunity to produce high-quality, Filipino-centric educational content.GCash

The program nurtures future advocates and nation-builders while allowing participants to gain valuable experience and plant “seeds of knowledge” for generations of learners.

KCFI, together with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (Phil) Inc., will hold the Knowledge Channel Early Childhood Care and Education training program in Taytay, Rizal, from Nov. 26 to 28.

This three-day program will equip child development workers, teachers, parents, health workers and other caregivers of 3- to 4-year-olds with practical skills in nutrition, protection, children’s rights and responsive caregiving guided by the Nurturing Care Framework and the ECCD Council’s National Early Learning Framework.
